Cleansing Advice for those who are Sick, Overweight, or Amateur

Do you fall into one of the following categories?

1. You more are than 20 lbs overweight

2. You suffer from an autoimmune disorder, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, infertility, or any other chronic illness that consumes your life and requires continued medical care

3. You are mentally ill or are on a cocktail of medications that make you mentally ill even though you actually are not.

4. You are an addict. smoking, drinking, pills...something that requires a detox all its own simply by quitting the habit.

5. You have had very little exposure to what it means to be naturally healthy.
In other words, you think splenda is good for you and you are proud of yourself when you buy margarine instead of butter or eat 100 calorie snack packs and Smart Ones microwavable meals. 


If so, here is my First piece of VERY important advice. 

Educate Yourself!!! 

Part of the reason why you are so sick and out of whack is because you have typically spent your life impulsively diving into things desperate to feel good and find relief.
 I know. I've been there...in all 4 categories at one point or another. 

You need to understand the difference between a juice cleanse and other detoxes, weight loss programs, or whatever it may be that promises you relief. 

Juicing and raw diet is about genuinely HEALING your whole body. It's not a quick fix or a "fun thing to try" or another fad diet. It's about bringing your body back to the basics.
Your mindset has to be right and your goals for your health have to be clear or juicing (just like everything else) won't work for you. 

If you just buy a juicer and a bunch of produce with no true knowledge of how juicing impacts your health or a well planned system for success, then you will most likely not adhere.You will get frustrated and give up.

Knowledge is power. If you understand what you are doing for your body, then you will enjoy the process. You will have the strength and the will power to stick with it until you get results. 

In other words, this isn't a diet. This is about getting things right once and for all! Juicing is not the end all, be all. It is only a piece of the puzzle. It's part of the journey to discovering and embracing the joy of nourishing the one body that God gave you. You have the rest of your life to get healthy. If you are making healthy choices, then you are better than you were the day before. It is a process and you need to be patient. 

So why is it so important to have the strength and the will power if you fall into one of the above categories? Because jumping into juicing will be a far more difficult task for you. I just gotta keep it real and be honest. Will you feel awesome one day?...ABSOLUTELY!!! Will it happen for you in 5 days?...probably not. 

Everyone is different and depending on the severity of toxicity in your body, you will all have different experiences with detoxing. Your body WILL detox HARD. You MUST arrange for help. You should clear out at least a week on your calendar if you can. Have no obligations. Let everyone know what you are doing and ask for support.You have to listen to your body and respond to its needs. One of the key things in healing is releasing stress. If you are taking this on without the necessary preparation then you will impede the healing process because stress damages our bodies.

Now, in the way of PRACTICAL advice on juicing for you guys...

  • You probably just need to straight up juice for 10 days. Yep. Nothing but juice. If you are super toxic and sick or overweight, you need to let your body spend every last ounce of its energy on healing and cleansing. When you eat, your body is using energy to digest. But the cool thing about a juice cleanse is that it actually gives you nutrition and ample calories. 
  • Do not add fats to your diet like nuts and oils. Fat cells hold toxins. Give your body a break from fats and just nourish it with fresh whole fruits and veggies. Healthy fats are GREAT and should be consumed, but for the sake of healing, just avoid fats and salts for a while.

  • PREPARE ALL OF YOUR JUICES BEFORE HAND. Get big ziplocks and have them ready. You do not want to be unprepared and find yourself hungry. 
  • Do NOT calorie count. That's not what this is about. It's about flooding your body with maximum nutrition. Drink as soon as you feel hungry and drink as much as you want. You can NEVER have too many fruits and veggies. 
  • ALL organic if possible. It's more pricey, but you may as well not even juice if it's with conventional produce because covered in pesticides or genetically modified. We are trying to move away from that.  http://nostrainnogain.blogspot.com/2012/04/organic-or-conventional-produce-does-it.html
  • SEE YOUR DOCTOR. Let you doctor know what you are doing. They will probably discourage you in some way, but what's bad about drinking fresh produce? NOTHING. Get your vitals taken. Let them know what your goals are and then schedule follow ups with them. If you have a med you want to be off of, it's not a good idea to just quit.
