You have to figure out what is important to you and then make sacrifices. Here comes some tough love. Ready for it?
A lot of us spend our money on things that will make us feel good because we pretty much always feel awful. You drag around and your kids may be hyper and sick and you're stressed and you're just finding any way you can to cope with your life so you pile the kids in the car and you go out looking like Brittany Spears in 2007 and you drive through Starbucks for your Venti Americano and then you go buy stuff to give you some sort of satisfaction and stuff that will make your kids leave you alone.
One of the biggest reasons we don't enjoy our lives is because we feel uncomfortable in our skin all the time. We are cranky and tired and everything is foggy all the time. Let me tell you something please....if you start taking the money you spend on things you can't enjoy because you feel awful and you start spending it on things that will make you feel alive and healthy then you'll start possibly having FUN with your kids and start having enough energy and be in a good enough mood to play with them and then you can take them out to do things that are FREE like running around a park or going on nature walks or play dress up with them...etc.
When I feel good, I stop wanting my kids to go away and I start wanting to spend time with them!
I am using kids as an example, but you all get what I'm saying.
On that note....you really don't have to sacrifice that much financially if you make smart choices and I am here to help you make those little decisions if you'd like.
First of all...not EVERYTHING you buy absolutlely HAS to be organic. I eat a lot of oatmeal for breakfast. It's not always organic ok. BUT it's great for me and I can buy it in bulk and it takes as long to make a bowl of oatmeal as it does to pop a pop tart. Tomorrow, I will take a picture of my favorite breakfast EVER.
For now...here is where I recommend you start. With your PRODUCE. You would not believe what your fruits and vegetable are soaked in! They are drenched in pesticides and you know what they are doing to a lot of our produce? They are gentically modifing it so that it won't die when it gets drenched in these chemicals. So NOW you and your kids are eating foods that are soaked in poison and genetically modified.
An apple a day will NOT in fact keep the Doctor away unless it is organic. These pesticides keep us sick and over time...they do greater harm.

Ok....So here is where I think you should start. Not every fruit and vegetable HAS to be organic. If you're trying to save then take this list to the grocery store and buy THESE in organic and never EVER buy them any other way ever again. |
